Kattegat II Offshore Wind Farm
Creates opportunity for 'overplanting' near Grenaa Harbor
Kattegat II Offshore Wind Farm
The environmental assessment of the Kattegat II plan examines the potential environmental impact of a number of offshore wind turbines that can have a capacity of between 1,000 and 2,460 MW.
The exact number and capacity will depend on the final project presented by the concession winners. The Port of Grenaa is closely following the plan and development of the Kattegat II Offshore Wind Farm and is ready to engage with stakeholders for the project.

In the period 2023-2025, Energinet will carry out preliminary studies for the Kattegat area. The studies include studies of the seabed, wind conditions and environment for the area designated for a possible offshore wind farm and possible landfall corridors.
The results will ensure that the offshore wind farm can be established with the least possible risk for a developer. A future developer will also be able to use environmental studies in connection with the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the specific project.
Part 1:
In the spring of 2023, the Danish Energy Agency and Energinet held the first public consultation regarding the environmental assessment of the plan for Kattegat Offshore Wind Farm, and a drop-in meeting was held at Kysthotellet in Grenå on March 21. During the consultation period, citizens, companies, authorities and others with an interest in the future offshore wind farm had the opportunity to submit ideas and suggestions for what should be included in the environmental assessment of the plan for Kattegat Offshore Wind Farm.
Part 2:
The environmental assessment must ensure that an overall position is taken on the likely significant environmental impacts that may occur when realizing the plan for Kattegat and Kriegers Flak II Offshore Wind Farm. The environmental report includes both assessments of the impacts on the marine and onshore environment. The consultation material can be found below and on the consultation portal.
Construction work will start in 2027 and is expected to be completed in mid-2029.
The offshore wind farm covers an area of approximately 122 km² within the Danish Exclusive Economic Zone in the Kattegat. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2030 at the latest.
The turbines will be located approximately 27 km from Anholt, 15 km from Grenaa Harbor and 25 km from the coast of Odsherred Municipality in Northwest Zealand. Connection to the public grid is planned in Trige, Jutland.
