Port of Grenaa has come out of 2021 with growth at such a high level that the port achieves one of its best results ever. The port expects 2022 to be a year of consolidation with continued focus on business development and ISO certification of the port.
Port of Grenaa reports a turnover of 68.2 million DKK, which is an increase of about 12 percent from 2020. On the bottom line, this year's result reads at DKK 10 million, which is also an increase from last year.
"The year 2021 was actually supposed to be a year of consolidation, where we really started working on the new 2025 strategy Port of partnerships for a green world. Therefore, it was not in the cards that the Port of Grenaa would achieve a turnover record that tops the three previous record years. We can be very proud of this," says a satisfied Bent Hansen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Port of Grenaa.
The CEO of the Port of Grenaa, Henrik Carstensen, also shares the enthusiasm of the Chairman and the Board:
"The growth is partly due to the fact that at Port of Grenaa we are good at landing ad-hoc projects. And the entire organisation is ready to act quickly and flexibly on new tasks and bring them to fruition. One of this year's exciting projects was the pre-assembly of the world's largest floating offshore wind turbine TetraSpar. For Port of Grenaa it is great to be able to contribute to the development of groundbreaking projects such as floating offshore wind".

Greening the port
In relation to the Port of Grenaa's new strategy, the port has made several steps towards a green transformation of the port:
"In 2021, we signed a supplier agreement with the energy group NRGI. This means that we have converted the port's power consumption to 100% Danish-produced, climate-friendly power. We have set up ten electricity charging stations on the port's premises, for use by businesses, tourists and private motorists. In April, we took delivery of our new Liebherr crane, which has been converted to run on electricity. In addition, we are continuing our process of establishing an even better energy infrastructure at the port, where the largest ships and rigs can be connected to shore power. This will give our customers flexible access to the port's major shore power upgrade from 2 to 20 megawatts, which the port also invested in, in 2021," says Henrik Carstensen.
Expectations for 2022
"We expect 2022 to be a year of consolidation. At the moment, a lot of effort is being made to make Port of Grenaa attractive for future large projects, such as future wind farms in Kattegat and Fehmarn", says chairman Bent Hansen and continues:
"By the end of 2022, we expect, among other things, to achieve ISO certification of the port in the areas of quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management."
New Board of Directors
Port of Grenaa welcomes the three new board members nominated by the municipal council of Norddjurs Municipality: Anette Ruby Liebe, Benny Hammer and Jens Meilvang.
At the inaugural meeting of the Board, which was held following today's General Assembly, Bent Hansen was appointed to continue as Chair and Laura Hay Uggla will be the new Vice Chair.
In addition to the aforementioned, the Board consists of Anne Bjerrekær, Lene Skovsgaard Sørensen, Jess Abildskou and Lars Møller.
