Yesterday at the Port of Grenaa, we had the great honor of welcoming the leadership from Halmstad Municipality! The delegation consisted of the mayor, deputy mayor, municipal director and PR consultant, who visited us in connection with the Kattegat Alliance - a strategic partnership between Norddjurs Municipality and Halmstad Municipality.

Focus on future opportunities and partnership
The visit set the stage for exciting discussions about future cooperation between our two municipalities. Through partnerships like this, we strengthen the connection between Denmark and Sweden - both commercially and culturally.

Insight into the role and development of the Port of Grenaa
Henrik Carstensen, CEO of the Port of Grenaa, presented the port's development, our core business and the collaboration in the Kattegat Port Alliance with Halland Ports. We are proud to play an important role as a regional hub and bridge builder between East Jutland and Southern Sweden.

We are proud to be part of Business Djursland's campaign "Discover your workplace", which focuses on Djursland's many opportunities - business, work, cultural and experiential. The campaign aims to brand Djursland as an attractive place to work, do business and live.

As part of the campaign, we opened the doors to the Port of Grenaa - Port of the Future, where we shared our vision for Port of Grenaa 2.0 and the many exciting initiatives that create growth and innovation.

With a presentation from our CEO Henrik Carstensen and a bus tour, participants got a unique insight into our facilities and the daily operations that support the 2,100 jobs across around 80 companies here at the Port of Grenaa in Norddjurs Municipality.

We are pleased to have contributed to this effort and look forward to continuing to be a driving force in the development of Djursland's business community. Djursland is full of opportunities, and together we can make the region even stronger.

Yesterday, Port of Grenaa CEO Henrik Carstensen participated in an exciting full-day conference at Christiansborg with the port partnership report as the recurring theme throughout the day.

Arriving at Copenhagen Central Station - in the most beautiful sunny weather - Henrik met his good port colleague Kristian Thulesen Dahl (CEO Port of Aalborg) on the platform, and together they walked and talked to Christiansborg, where they were ready for the day's exciting program.

The conference was opened by Morten Bødskov, Minister for Business Affairs, who gave his and the government's status on the work with the recommendations in the port partnership report. This was followed by many exciting presentations and debates.

With less than a week until Christmas, Henrik Carstensen's biggest Christmas wish on behalf of Port of Grenaa is that the politicians at Christiansborg have taken on board the many good inputs from the day, so that the port industry will hopefully hear some more concrete initiatives from Christiansborg related to this in early 2025. As an industry, we have a massive need to move in many areas - regulatory processing, infrastructure to support the green transition, etc.

Helm Scandinavia and Bioman have entered into a groundbreaking partnership that marks an important step in the green transition at the Port of Grenaa. With methanol as a greener alternative to conventional fuels, the collaboration strengthens both the companies' position and the port's role as a central energy hub for future sustainable fuels.

Morten Kristensen, Business Manager at Helm Scandinavia:
"Methanol is an essential part of the green transition and we are proud of our partnership with Bioman here in Grenaa. The new methanol plant, which is already in operation, allows us to supply the market with both fossil and green methanol, which is one of the cleanest fuels you can use in both marine and land-based industries. We expect significant growth in this area as the need for green methanol increases globally."

Helm Scandinavia, which is both ISCC Plus and ISCC EU certified, now has the opportunity to offer green methanol to the shipping industry. Morten Kristensen adds: "Our ambition is for the Port of Grenaa to become an important partner for supplying methanol to ships that need to refuel here in the port."

René Svenningsen, Operations Manager at Bioman:
"The new plant we have built is state of the art and fully complies with all safety and environmental standards. We have experienced impressive growth here at the Port of Grenaa over the past seven years, and this methanol project is an excellent example of how we continue to develop. The collaboration with Helm Scandinavia has been a key driver in this development."

René also highlights the long-standing relationship between Bioman and Helm Scandinavia, which has helped them to offer innovative green energy solutions today.

Henrik Carstensen emphasizes that the Port of Grenaa is ready to expand its role as an energy hub for Methanol in both the maritime sector and other industries in the future. "We expect Methanol to play a crucial role in the maritime sector by 2030, and we are already well on our way."

This partnership demonstrates the Port of Grenaa's commitment to the green transition and contributes to making Djursland an important player in the Nordic market for green energy.
